Delta is delivering a seamless travel experience—on the ground and in the air—through industry-leading government partnerships and cutting-edge technology. Delta and Korean Air customers flying from Incheon (ICN) to Atlanta (ATL), and Delta customers flying from London Heathrow (LHR) to ATL and onward to connecting Delta flights can now head straight to their connecting gate without reclaiming and rechecking their bags at U.S. customs. Thanks to cutting-edge tech and collaboration with Korean and U.K. governments and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, customers save up to 25 minutes and enjoy a smoother journey.
In addition to the checked bag benefit, customers connecting in ATL from LHR on select flights can also bypass redundant TSA screenings and proceed to their connecting gate, saving up to 45 minutes, owing to the partnership with TSA and the U.K. government. This offering will roll out to all ATL to LHR flights in the coming weeks. To qualify, Delta customers must be enrolled in Global Entry or use the Mobile Passport Control (MPC) app. Since February, all eastbound customers from ATL connecting through LHR also benefit from this streamlined experience. The MPC app is available at 23 airports Delta serves and is free to use. Delta will expand this innovation to additional international routes in the future, making global travel faster, easier and more seamless than ever.
Customers flying out of ATL, BOS, DTW or SEA can check in on the app, print bag tags and drop off their bags. They can now skip the wait with expedited “App Bag Drop” experience—designed to give back time. Coming to all Delta hubs by the end of the year, this perk streamlines the journey for app users, allowing for shorter lines and more time to unwind before takeoff.
The Prepared Traveler focus in the app is just one more way customers can travel internationally with the documentation they need. Now, customers with upcoming international travel will be prompted to scan and save their passports and explore other destination-specific travel requirements, right through the app, saving time and hassle when it’s time to fly.
One of the simplest time-saving travel hacks—TSA PreCheck Touchless ID (formerly known to customers as Delta Digital ID)—is expanding. This technology uses facial matching to allow eligible SkyMiles Members who opt-in to move through dedicated bag drop and security lines without presenting a traditional photo ID. To be eligible, a Delta customer must:
- Have the Delta app
- Be a TSA PreCheck member
- Be a SkyMiles member
- Have passport information and a Known Traveler Number stored in their Delta profile
Touchless ID speeds up bag drop by up to 75 percent, reducing transactions to just 30 seconds on average. At security, enrolled customers clear checkpoints up to 60 percent faster than standard TSA PreCheck, with automated ID verification cutting processing times to just seven to 10 seconds.
Originally launched by Delta in partnership with TSA in 2021, bag drop and security experiences are now available at ATL, DTW, LAX, LGA, JFK, SLC, DCA and SEA, with a security-only experience available at DEN, LAS and PDX. By the end of 2025, Delta will bring this offering to all hubs and select stations, making travel even more efficient.
Customers can enroll through their SkyMiles profile on www.delta.com.
