Delta Air Lines expects suspended operations at its New York LaGuardia (LGA), New York JFK and Boston Logan (BOS) hubs into Tuesday, Feb. 24, as Winter Storm Hernando brings extreme winter weather conditions to the Northeast.
The airline began processing proactive cancellations at the three hubs starting Sunday after forecasters predicted significant snow and winter weather impacts through Monday. Delta said broader disruptions along the East Coast are also possible as the storm system moves through the region, and customers should expect additional schedule adjustments at other airports.
Delta is proactively notifying customers with affected flights and is automatically rebooking them to the next best available itinerary. The carrier is urging travelers to use the Delta app or delta.com to manage changes, noting that those self-service options provide access to the same rebooking inventory available to reservation specialists.
A travel waiver is in effect for customers whose itineraries take them to, from or through impacted airports. Under the waiver, fare-difference fees are waived for flights rescheduled through Feb. 25, provided rebooking is completed by Feb. 28. Travel agents with clients booked through the affected Northeast airports should advise them to move travel before or after the storm window where possible, and to monitor Delta’s advisory page for updates as the storm system continues to develop.
