Delta Air Lines expects to begin resuming flight operations at New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), LaGuardia Airport (LGA), and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) starting midday Tuesday, as Winter Storm Hernando tapers and airport crews work to clear runways and taxiways.
The airline cautioned that delays and additional schedule adjustments are likely as operations recover from what has been a multi-day shutdown across the Northeast. Customers should continue to monitor their flight status in the Delta app or on delta.com for the latest information.
Some international flights that departed for JFK Tuesday morning are planned to land after 12 p.m. ET, signaling the first signs of a return to normal operations at one of Delta’s busiest hubs. The airline said it is closely monitoring conditions at all affected airports and will resume flights as weather and ground conditions allow.
Disruptions remain possible beyond the three primary hubs, and Delta is urging customers traveling through other Northeast airports to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
A travel waiver remains in effect for customers with bookings through Feb. 25. Fare-difference fees continue to be waived, but any rebooked travel must begin no later than Feb. 28. Customers can manage changes directly through the Delta app or delta.com.
Travel agents should advise clients with Northeast itineraries today to build in extra time and flexibility, as a full operational recovery from a multi-airport blizzard-related shutdown typically unfolds over several hours and can extend into the following day.
