Hilton Expanding Motto Brand to Australia

Hilton has announced the debut of Motto by Hilton in Australia with the signing of Motto by Hilton Sydney City Centre. Motto is a lifestyle brand, blending compact design, social spaces and locally inspired experiences.

Marking Hilton’s seventh brand in Australia, this signing reinforces Hilton’s continued evolution in Australia, building on a legacy that began more than 50 years ago with the opening of its first hotel and a history of introducing new hospitality concepts to the market.

Located on York Street in Sydney’s bustling CBD, Motto by Hilton Sydney City Centre will place guests’ steps from The Rocks, Darling Harbour, Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, and within easy walking distance of Barangaroo and the YCK Laneways precinct. Perfectly connected between Wynyard and Town Hall stations, the hotel offers an ideal launchpad to explore Sydney’s culture, dining, entertainment, and iconic landmarks.

“The location of Australia’s first Motto by Hilton property has been strategically selected in the heart of Sydney’s vibrant food scene, placing guests amongst some of the city’s most iconic experiences,” said Tushar Raniga, director, development, Hilton, Australasia. “Motto by Hilton is redefining the city stay, bringing a fresh, dynamic approach to hospitality in some of the world’s most renowned destinations. The signing of the Sydney property marks the next step in this evolution, grounded in Hilton’s legacy of delivering exceptional guest experiences”.

Spaces at Motto link, flex, and transform to fit how guests and locals move through the day. Motto by Hilton Sydney City Centre will feature dynamic communal spaces that distinguish the hotel as more than just a place to stay, but a central hub of activity that connects locals and guests alike. The hotel’s lobby will double as a communal space for remote working, as well as a place to meet over a coffee or cocktail.

In partnership with Invictus Developments, Motto by Hilton Sydney City Centre is set to open in late 2027, featuring 152 rooms. The hotel will offer a diverse mix of accommodation, including 96 standard rooms, 14 bunk rooms, 14 flex rooms, eight accessible rooms and 20 suites. For added flexibility and comfort, 56 rooms are able to interconnect—ideal for families and small groups.

Food and beverage sits at the heart of the Motto experience. The brand brings together neighbourhood-loved coffee, the city’s most dynamic concepts, inventive mixology and a rooftop bar.

“We are thrilled to partner with Hilton in bringing the Motto by Hilton concept to Sydney,” Chayadi Karim, principal, Invictus Developments, said in a statement. “This project represents an exciting opportunity to transform one of our flagship properties into a vibrant, urban lifestyle hotel, and we are proud to collaborate with Hilton to deliver a truly dynamic experience for guests and locals alike. It marks a significant milestone for our portfolio, stands as a strong testament to our proven conversion expertise, and underscores our commitment to expanding our presence in Australia”.

With 10 Motto by Hilton properties in prime urban locations around the world, including recent openings in Hong Kong SoHo, Downtown Nashville, and New York City Times Square, the Australian expansion is the latest announcement in a pipeline of 23 additional Motto by Hilton properties currently in planning and development.

Motto by Hilton Sydney City Centre will be part of Hilton Honors, the guest loyalty program for Hilton’s 26 distinct hotel brands. Members who book directly have access to instant benefits, including a flexible payment slider that allows members to choose nearly any combination of Points and money to book a stay, an exclusive member discount, free standard Wi-Fi, and the Hilton Honors mobile app.
