Holland America Line has announced a new collaboration with Sony Electronics for the 2025 Alaska season. Guests can enjoy an immersive new way to experience Alaska’s landscapes through onboard photography experiences as well as a photo contest.
As part of this collaboration, Sony and Holland America Line will launch the “Alaska Through Your Lens” photo sweepstakes this season. Guests are encouraged to embrace Alaska’s landscapes, diverse wildlife and natural wonders through their photography and enter for a chance to win prizes at Sony Alpha Universe—Sony’s official online platform to support and inspire photographers who use Sony Alpha cameras.
To enter, consumers can visit https://alphauniverse.com/AlphaHALCruise-sweepstakes or via social media using the hashtags #AlphaHALcruise and #Sweepstakes. Grand prize winners will be awarded a Holland America Line Alaska cruise for two, plus a Sony Alpha 7R V camera, 70-200 mm F2.8 G Master II lens and 24-70 mm F2.8 G Master II lens that can help enhance every shot.
As part of the “We Love Alaska” onboard experience, Sony hosted an interactive pop-up photography class aboard the line’s seven-day “Alaska Inside Passage” cruise on June 25, 2025. Led by a Sony Artisan, Colby Brown, the class held aboard Zaandam offered guests professional insights and hands-on practice with Sony’s state-of-the-art equipment.
Participants sharpened their photography skills while capturing shots of Alaska’s glaciers, landscapes, wildlife and scenic vistas. With Sony’s Creators’ Cloud transfer feature via smartphone application, guests instantly saved and shared their images with friends and family. For added convenience, a condensed version of the class will also be available on stateroom TVs fleetwide.
Here are a few highlights of Alaska cruises for 2025:
- The 14-day “Great Alaska Explorer” itinerary offers an in-depth adventure with eight Alaska ports. Departures are roundtrip from Vancouver
- Seven-day “Northbound Glacier Discovery” and “Southbound Glacier Discovery” itineraries cruise between Whittier (Anchorage) and Vancouver aboard Nieuw Amsterdam and Noordam
- Seven-day “Alaska Inside Passage” cruises sail roundtrip from Vancouver on Koningsdam, Nieuw Amsterdam and Zaandam
- Seven-day “Alaska Explorer” cruises sail roundtrip from Seattle aboard Eurodam and Westerdam
“Glacier Day” occurs once per cruise on every Alaska cruise. Every Alaska cruise includes a visit to one or more of the state’s iconic glacier destinations and shore excursions offer the opportunity to visit even more glaciers. The line has a wildlife expert onboard to help guests witness the animals found in Alaska, including whales, eagles, bears, moose, otters, seals, sea lions, and more. A wildlife spotting guide points out the native animals found along the cruise route, and a map with the best places to see each species is included.
