Inside the $80 Million Renovation at Marriott Autograph Collection’s Newest Hotel

Grab your beach towel, because La Concha Resort on San Juan, Puerto Rico’s beachfront, has completed their $80.2 million renovation. The property-wide renovation ushers in a new era for the resort as part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of more than 30 hotel brands. It’s an exciting endeavor for the resort, becoming the first Autograph Collection Hotel in Puerto Rico.

Designed by Celano Design, the renovation includes the fully reimagined Suite Tower featuring 238 rooms and suites. The suites, which use a color palette of whites, bone, gray, and teal, boast separate lounge and bedroom areas, custom marble flooring in residential-style bathrooms, private balconies, and floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping ocean views, according to a release.

Late last year, La Concha welcomed a spa called Elemara Spa & Salon for wellness rituals, as well as several new dining options. Levant by Chef Michael White, a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant led by Michelin-starred Chef Michael White, opened in March 2025. Tekka Bar, a lobby Handroll & Sake venue, opened late last year, and a new three-meal restaurant, AQA Oceanfront, is set to open this summer.

“This is a landmark moment for La Concha Resort and for Puerto Rico’s premium hospitality scene,” said Mike Rivera, General Manager. “Our encompassing renovation and transition to Autograph Collection allows us to elevate every aspect of our guests’ experience – from the thoughtfully redesigned suites to an immersive, elevated culinary scene, and personalized moments like our new cocktail program and wellness offerings.”
