Intrepid Travel Posts Its Best Year Ever

Intrepid Travel has delivered the strongest performance in its 37-year history, reporting record bookings, revenue and customer satisfaction in 2025 despite geopolitical headwinds and global uncertainty.  

Outlined in Intrepid’s 2025 Integrated Annual Report, the year also included its highest-ever community investment through The Intrepid Foundation.

Record Global Performance 

  • US$620M in bookings (+26 percent) 
  • US$575M in revenue (+29 percent) 
  • US$38M in underlying EBITDA (+26 percent) 
  • Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 83, the highest in company history 
  • US$2.4M distributed through The Intrepid Foundation to community and conservation partners worldwide 
  • US$7.5M in employee bonuses 

Rapid Growth in North America and Beyond 

As Intrepid accelerates its expansion across the Americas, the company has set an ambitious goal to make the region its largest global market by 2030. Despite headwinds in the U.S. travel market in 2025, where many companies experienced a slowdown, Intrepid still delivered 5 percent year-over-year growth. Canada surged to 25 percent, helping drive double-digit growth across North America

The company’s strong increase in bookings and revenue was also supported by standout growth in Australia and the United Kingdom, along with expansion through the acquisition of Dutch tour operator Sawadee Reizen

Underlying EBITDA reached US$38M globally, reflecting the strength of Intrepid’s core business and an increased focus on efficient operations. Growth in its core business was driven primarily through organic expansion in key sales markets. 

Customer satisfaction reached its highest level in company history in 2025, with an average NPS of 83 globally, reflecting consistently strong traveler trust and operational delivery. 

“Our record-setting results reveal a deeper story behind the numbers,” Leigh Barnes, president of the Americas, Intrepid Travel, said in a statement. “They show that purpose-led travel is striking a chord. Travelers are increasingly looking for journeys that feel authentic, immersive, and connected to the places and communities they visit.”  

Balancing Profit and Purpose  

Intrepid’s record year also points to a larger transformation underway across the travel industry. Intrepid’s model, combining strong financial performance with record investment in communities, demonstrates that commercial growth and positive impact can scale together. 

  • In 2025 alone, US$2.4M was distributed through The Intrepid Foundation, the company’s nonprofit arm to communities and conservation partners around the world.  
  • The Intrepid Foundation also became a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the United States, meaning donations are tax-deductible for American travelers, advisors, corporations, and partners. 
  • New partnerships were formed protecting America’s national parks with the National Parks Conservation Association and the Trust for the National Mall, along with more than US$50K raised for the Grand Canyon Conservancy

The Integrated Annual Report also highlights how Intrepid took a fresh look at, and reimagined, its Climate Action Plan, which includes a new five-year Impact Strategy and a US$1.4M annual Climate Impact Fund for decarbonization initiatives. 

The company continued to share its success with its people, distributing US$7.5M in employee bonuses in the form of both cash and shares.   

The company has a goal to double employee shareholding to 20 percent, and the board also approved a dividend for eligible shareholders—the third consecutive year a dividend has been awarded. 

When it comes to its people, Intrepid experienced a 10-point decline in employee Net Promoter Score to 54, reflecting adjustments made as the company scaled operations and focused on efficiency during a year of strong growth. 

Employee engagement remained high at 80, demonstrating that Intrepid’s global team of 3,574 employees and tour leaders (+3 percent YOY) remain engaged and proud to work for the business. 

James Thornton, Intrepid’s CEO, reinforced that the 2025 results reflect the enduring strength of the company’s purpose-led model: “Our 2025 performance shows that it is possible to grow a resilient, profitable business while staying true to our values—even in the face of global uncertainty,” Thornton said. 

“At a time when the world is more divided than ever, I’m incredibly proud that more travelers are choosing to experience the world the Intrepid way. These results are testament to our team, who deliver exceptional experiences for our customers while creating positive impact for communities,” he added.
