Lufthansa Group’s premium leisure airline Edelweiss (operated by SWISS) began service to and from Seattle, WA, to Zurich, Switzerland on June 2. With this new flight, the Lufthansa Group has increased its hub footprint in Seattle and the greater Pacific Northwest with direct service to Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich.
Edelweiss flight WK006 (LX8006) departs at 1 p.m. from Zurich and lands at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) at 2:55 p.m. The return flight, WK007 (LX8007), departs SEA at 4:25 p.m. and arrives back in Zurich at 11:45 a.m. the following day. All times are local. The service consists of two weekly nonstop flights.
The Seattle–Zurich route is operated by an Airbus A340-300, offering 314 seats across three classes. Edelweiss Business Class offers 27 fully lie-flat seats, Economy Max includes 76 seats with six inches additional legroom and a variety of enhanced amenities, and the Economy Class offers 211 seats. All passengers can enjoy a modern in-flight entertainment system with HD touchscreens, offering a wide selection of films, music and games.
Edelweiss recently introduced a new onboard dining menu, offering Swiss culinary specialties ranging from traditional classics to seasonal reinterpretations. In Business Class, the highlight is the legendary St. Gallen bratwurst accompanied by beans wrapped in bacon, rösti and onion sauce. Appetizers, such as trout tartare with pumpernickel crumble and apple gel, as well as vegetarian creations such as dumplings with ricotta and buffalo parmesan, provide variety. Dessert includes classics such as chocolate mousse with whipped cream or a piña colada coconut cream with pineapple ragout. In Economy Class, passengers will enjoy dishes such as chicken breast with herbs, risotto Milanese and spinach or gnocchi with tomato and basil sauce. Desserts such as mango mousse with strawberry coulis or a tutti-frutti crumble cake round off the menu on a sweet note.
North America is Lufthansa Group’s top foreign market, outside of the home markets. In addition to the new Seattle–Zurich route, Edelweiss will also begin direct flights on July 3 from its Zurich hub to Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Halifax flight will also consist of two weekly direct flights, bolstering the connection between Atlantic Canada and Europe.
