MSC Cruises to Offer Year-Round South Caribbean Sailings

MSC Cruises has says that MSC Opera will sail year-round in the South Caribbean from winter 2026 through summer 2027, now open for sale. The addition marks the first time the line has deployed a ship in the South Caribbean during summer, as well as its first time offering two ships during winter.

MSC Opera will offer a range of seven-night itineraries and the option for guests to extend their cruise to a 14-night “butterfly” cruise to a multitude of Southern Caribbean destinations including the Dominican Republic, Martinique, Guadeloupe, the British Virgin Islands, Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda and the Dutch Antilles. The ship will homeport in La Romana, D.R., a new regular destination for MSC Cruises, with the first cruise departing on November 16, 2026. Starting in April 2027, the ship will also offer a second embarkation port, Fort-de-France, Martinique.

Here are a few highlights of MSC Opera’s new itineraries:

  • La Romana, Dominican Republic – La Romana offers beaches, local craft shops, seafood and easy access to popular attractions like the Cueva de las Maravillas.
  • Catalina Island, Dominican Republic – Catalina Island is known for its clear water, coral reefs and white sandy beaches; guests can enjoy a variety of activities such as snorkeling, diving and sunbathing.
  • Fort-de-France, Martinique – In Martinique’s capital, guests can explore colorful architecture, markets and local shops or venture further off to discover the island’s rum distilleries, rainforest and beaches.
  • Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands – Visitors can explore Virgin Gorda’s world-famous Baths, relax on beaches or enjoy scenic hiking trails such as Gorda Peak National Park for full island views.
  • St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda – The capital city of Antigua and Barbuda is known for colorful houses, historical landmarks such as Fort James and is the gateway to some of the Caribbean’s best beaches.

MSC Opera itineraries will visit 10 other destinations, including Oranjestad, Bridgetown, Kralendijk, Willemstad, Samana Bay, St. George’s, Pointe-a-Pitre, Philipsburg, Basseterre and Road Town. MSC Opera will join MSC Seaview in the region for winter 2026-27, offering seven-night sailings from its homeport in Fort-de-France to destinations including Pointe-a-Pitre, Philipsburg, St. John’s, Basseterre, Roseau, Bridgetown, Kingstown, St. George’s and Castries.
