New High Wind Guarantee Expands Trip Protection for Skiers and Golfers

As travelers prepare for Labor Day adventures and look ahead to the 2025-26 ski season, Sensible Weather—the climate technology company behind more than one million Weather Guarantees sold across more than 8,000 partners—has announced the launch of its newest protection: the “High Winds Weather Guarantee.”

This first-of-its-kind service provides travelers with automatic reimbursements when sustained winds disrupt outdoor trips and activities—no claims, no paperwork, just instant payouts in real time. From ski lifts closed by gusts to golf courses made unplayable, the new guarantee ensures that travelers don’t lose out when conditions take a turn. The “High Winds Weather Guarantee” joins Sensible Weather’s existing Weather Guarantees for rain, heat, snow and sleet, and can be offered alongside other coverage, giving travelers and outdoor enthusiasts added peace of mind, no matter the forecast.

Sensible Weather leverages trusted windspeed data to calculate the strongest average wind speed over a one-hour period. If winds meet or exceed the set threshold during a traveler’s covered dates, the guarantee is automatically triggered and reimbursement is initiated instantly. The launch comes as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reports above-average sustained winds across much of the U.S. in 2025, underscoring how volatile conditions are becoming for outdoor recreation and travel.

The “High Winds Weather Guarantee” is already being piloted by golf resorts and ski destinations, two experiences where strong winds often close courses and lifts, frustrating travelers and operators alike. By removing financial friction when conditions disrupt planned activities, Sensible Weather gives travelers peace of mind while helping operators protect bookings, drive conversions and unlock revenue.

Sensible Weather first launched its Weather Guarantee in 2019 to protect businesses and their guests from the impact of rain, snow and sleet on outdoor activities and travel plans, expanding in 2024 to include coverage for extreme heat as record-breaking heatwaves swept across the United States.

Travelers and outdoor enthusiasts can purchase the “High Winds Weather Guarantee” at select golf resorts and ski destinations, with broader rollouts planned this fall.
