Cruise industry veteran Richard Fain, chairman of Royal Caribbean Group since 1988, and a visionary leader known and beloved by many travel advisors, will step down from the chairman’s role in the fourth quarter of 2025. He’ll remain on the group’s board of directors with Jason Liberty, the group’s president and CEO since January 2022, elected to succeed Fain as chairman.
Princess Cruises has unveiled its lineup of new solar eclipse and other Europe cruises in 2027, while Celebrity Cruises announced a new eight-night President’s Cruise in 2026. Guests will sail with Laura Hodges Bethge, the line’s president, on the new Celebrity Xcel in the eastern Mediterranean from September 13, 2026. Holland America Line will expand its presence in Northern Europe with a third dedicated ship in 2027. Zuiderdam will join Nieuw Statendam and Rotterdam in taking guests throughout Northern Europe, while Oosterdam will continue as the cruise line’s primary ship to sail Mediterranean cruises.
Fashion Week and More
Cunard’s “Transatlantic Fashion Week” voyage will sail from the U.S. for the first time this fall aboard Queen Mary 2. The voyage will host such fashion icons as designers Christian Siriano and Bob Mackie, as well as supermodel Coco Rocha. In addition, Cunard has introduced 195 new voyages for 2027-2028. MSC Cruises, separately, announced that it will offer year-round southern Caribbean sailings for the first time.
On the small ship front, SeaDream Yacht Club has also unveiled new Caribbean voyages for 2027-2028. Star Clippers just opened its fall 2026-winter 2027 sailings for booking. Also, Windstar Cruises executives shared their insight with sister publication Luxury Travel Advisor about what’s new and upcoming for the line.
The cruise industry continues to diversify with so many choices available. At the same time, advisors strive to ensure clients are matched with the right product so they have a positive vacation experience. Now, in a new “Refreshingly Free” marketing campaign, Holland America Line is differentiating itself by showcasing what qualities it doesn’t possess—not an amusement park and not with 2,000 more people, according to Cruise Industry News.
