Under Canvas has announced the opening of its first camp in Washington State: Under Canvas Columbia River Gorge. The newest camp joins 11 other Under Canvas locations nationwide and is situated on a 120-acre property in Washington’s White Salmon River Valley. Located 15 miles from White Salmon, WA, and a one-hour drive from Portland along the Columbia River, Under Canvas Columbia River Gorge offers guests a new way to experience the Pacific Northwest.
The property offers upscale safari-inspired canvas tents set on private decks for optimal views of vistas and peaks, including Oregon’s iconic Mount Hood. Each tent comes with king-size beds, luxe linens, bedside lanterns, USB charging packs, a gas fireplace and en-suite bathrooms with hot pull-chain showers, sinks and flushing toilets. Signature accommodations include the proprietary Stargazer Tent, designed with a viewing window above the bed to provide optimal nighttime visibility; along with the Mount Hood Suite Tent—two tents connected by a private deck and outdoor lounge.
The lobby tent houses lounge areas and communal dining spaces. A selection of books and games from Northwest artisans further enhances these shared spaces. Just steps away, an expansive deck offers a setting for yoga, stargazing or soaking in valley and mountain views.
The dining program highlights al fresco and indoor café-style options, serving freshly made, seasonal dishes. Grab-and-go lunches and snacks are available throughout the day for guests fueling their adventures. Onsite programming includes a range of activities such as acoustic live music, yoga, kids’ activities, nightly s’mores and more. Premium brand partnerships offer guests use of Lululemon yoga mats and blocks, Black Diamond hiking poles and a Gibson guitar for fireside strumming. Guests can also shop curated retail collections for the limited-edition Under Canvas X Aviator Nation collab collection of sweatshirts, Hydro Flask drinkware, Sun Bum products, Pendleton wool goods and an Under Canvas apparel line.
With a dedicated on-site experiences team, guests enjoy customized recommendations and effortless access to the region’s top activities. From hiking scenic trails to kayaking the White Salmon River or pedaling along guided and self-guided bike tours, every itinerary is curated to align with each guest’s interests. Guests can explore nearby towns such as Hood River, OR, unwind with wine tastings at more than 10 local wineries within a 10-mile radius, or enjoy white-water rafting experiences.
