Intrepid Travel has announced the acquisition of two new boutique properties: a 20-room resort in Tasmania and a 17-room riad just steps from the medina in Marrakech. The move is part of the company’s 2030 strategy to become the world’s first vertically integrated sustainable travel brand—anchored in immersive experiences, local connection and regenerative impact.
In Tasmania, Intrepid has acquired Edge of the Bay, a 20-room coastal resort in Coles Bay with views of Wineglass Bay. Originally opened in 1980, the resort will be refreshed to align with Intrepid Travel’s impact-led ethos. Guests will enjoy new nature-based activities and environmental education programs developed in partnership with Greening Australia, an Intrepid Foundation partner dedicated to landscape restoration.
In Marrakech, Intrepid’s newly acquired 17-room riad is just five minutes from the bustling medina. The property will offer culinary experiences in collaboration with The Amal Association, a local nonprofit that provides hospitality training and job placement for women.
The announcement follows the 2023 acquisition of the Daintree Ecolodge in Australia and a multi-year lease on a hotel in Hoi An, Vietnam. Intrepid Travel plans to expand its boutique accommodation portfolio to 20 properties by 2027, with a strong pipeline already in motion across Asia, Africa and the Americas.
This announcement builds on Intrepid Travel’s continued expansion across the Americas, including the recent opening of its regional headquarters in Seattle, and record North American growth in 2024. With more than 100 itineraries across Latin America, the U.S. and Canada, the company is investing heavily in the regions its customers care about most—while elevating the standard for what sustainable travel should look like worldwide.
These properties, like all future additions, will be bookable independently of Intrepid tours.
