Somewhere between a boutique hotel and a well-curated friend’s apartment sits Local 101 Beaupaire, the newest opening from hospitality entrepreneurs Alma Bremond and David Siklos in Paris’ 10th arrondissement, steps from the trending Canal Saint-Martin with its chic boutiques and crowd-pleasing bars, cafés, and restaurants.
The pair bring diverse, international backgrounds in design and hospitality to their Local 101 brand: Bremond was born in Paris and raised between New York City and Iceland, while Siklos, a Canadian, has lived in Miami, New York, and across Canada. They launched their first Local 101 hotel in Reykjavík, Iceland, to great success, built on a philosophy of immersing guests in a local experience in a relaxed atmosphere.
We visited the hotel this summer and were impressed with what we saw. Bremond warmly greeted us in the lobby and shared the DNA of the brand, first pointing to a wood wall unit stocked with art books, coffee beans, a line of luxury cosmetics, and T-shirts — all produced in either France or Paris. Only French music plays in the public areas, and a cart offers guests unlimited coffee and filtered water throughout the day and evening.

The five-story building has 40 rooms across five categories: Single, Petite Double, Double, Double Superior, and Double Superior with balcony. Prices start at €98 (approximately $112) a night in the offseason and reach €350 (approximately $400) a night in high season.
We were shown a Petite Double, a cozy 130-square-foot room luxuriously appointed with wall-to-wall carpeting, romantic black-and-white photos of Paris, plush bed linens, and high-thread-count sheets. Other amenities include a rain shower head, air conditioning, a large-screen television, and free Wi-Fi. The 185-square-foot Double Superior adds an extra single bed suitable for a child or adolescent.
Bremond invited us to a dinner tasting at Le Beaupaire, an intimate dining room bathed in flattering, soft red lighting. The classic menu covers everyone’s favorite French comfort dishes: We feasted on deviled eggs, marinated gravlax on whole-grain toast, and radishes with butter and sea salt for starters, followed by an excellently executed pan-seared half chicken with brown gravy and whipped potatoes (with sinful amounts of butter), plus a juicy steak with crisp frites. To finish, we shared an unusual take on chocolate mousse topped with olive oil and sea salt, and a warm tart with the thinnest slices of caramelized apples.
Local 101 Beaupaire sits centrally, near Place de la République, which borders the upper Marais and the trending 11th arrondissement — home to some of the city’s top-rated restaurants, including Le Servan, Bistrot Paul Bert, and Septime.
