Avanti, Marketing Manchester Partner for Custom FIT Summer Trips

Avanti Destinations and Marketing Manchester have launched a joint campaign to educate advisors and their clients about FIT summer vacations in the destination. The northern English city serves as a hub for multi-destination British vacations to the Lake District, Peak District, Chester, Liverpool, the Yorkshire Dales, Wales and other U.K. locations. The centerpiece of the campaign is a 36-page downloadable e-brochure, “Manchester: Gateway to Northern England & Wales,” available on Avanti’s travel advisor portal.

Avanti offers three customizable vacations that include Manchester, 12 hotels and 24 private and small group tours and experiences, including seven focused on food, wine, beer or spirits, and eight that are excursions to the Lake District, Derbyshire and the Peak District and Wales. Advisors can modify the length of their stay in each location, and add or subtract destinations and tours and transfers from Avanti’s menu of options in order to craft a custom itinerary that fits the interests, budget and timeline of each traveler.

Designed to be shared with clients, the new e-brochure includes information on Manchester, outlines popular attractions and provides direct air travel times from several U.S. gateways. It also highlights three customizable six-day itineraries, eight four- and five-star hotels, and 15 tours and experiences in and around Manchester.

Of the three customizable vacations, “Best of Manchester” is a city stay and includes a three-hour “Locationist” tour of TV and movie shooting locations, a three-plus hour “Eat the City” food tour and a three-hour private “Highlights of Manchester” tour, as well as choice of accommodation and daily breakfast.

The second vacation, “Best of Northern England,” is rail-based, and combines Manchester with Liverpool. It includes private arrival and departure transfers for both cities; rail between cities; small group Spirit of Manchester gin distillery tour and guided tasting; “Eat the City” tour in Manchester; Manchester hop-on, hop-off bus tour; entrance to The Beatles Story plus British Invasion exhibit in Liverpool; Mad Day Out Beatles taxi tour in Liverpool; a 11-hour small group tour from Manchester to Windermere, Lancaster and the Lake District; choice of accommodation; and daily breakfast.

The third vacation, “British Bites,” combines Manchester with Edinburgh, Scotland, although it can be customized to include York, London or any other U.K. destination. It includes private arrival and departure transfers for each city; rail travel between cities; a three-and-a-half-hour small group craft beer tour in Manchester; one-and-a-half-hour small group Scotch whiskey experience in Edinburgh; Spirit of Manchester gin distillery tour and guided tasting; three-and-a-half-hour “Eat the City” food tour in Manchester; three-hour private “Locationist” tour of TV and movie shooting locations; Manchester hop-on, hop-off bus tour; private tour of Edinburgh by Mini Cooper; choice of accommodation; and daily breakfast.

The 15 experiences and excursions highlighted in the e-brochure include a walking tour of Salford Quays, a former industrial area filled with ships, warehouses and cranes, now redeveloped to reflect the city’s reinvention as a media, theater, film and football powerhouse; river cruise from the heart of the city; three different football-focused tours, including the National Football Museum and a behind-the-scenes tour of Manchester City stadium; a three-hour “Ancoats Taster” walking tour of the city’s gastronomic neighborhood, formerly a gritty industrial area; a three-hour private Afternoon Tea Taxi tour with a selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones; a three-plus-hour craft beer tour with tastings of the city’s finest breweries and microbreweries; Spirit of Manchester gin distillery tour with guided tastings; private daytrips to nearby destinations including the Lake District, Peak District, Wales and the heritage city of Chester, founded by the Romans.
