JetBlue, Puerto Rico’s largest airline, has announced a major expansion of its San Juan (SJU) focus city with the launch of five new nonstop routes to Philadelphia (PHL); Jacksonville, Florida (JAX); Norfolk, Virginia (ORF); Richmond, Virginia (RIC); and Buffalo, New York (BUF). Beginning in spring 2026, the airline will operate year-round service to all five markets, reinforcing JetBlue’s longstanding investment in Puerto Rico and deepening its 23-year commitment to the island.
JetBlue operates more seats and serves more destinations between Puerto Rico and the mainland U.S. than any other airline, making it the largest carrier on the island with service from San Juan, Aguadilla and Ponce. With this announcement, JetBlue will operate flights to 22 nonstop destinations from San Juan, more than any other airline, and will average more than 40 daily departures next spring.
The new routes follow a period of robust growth for JetBlue in Puerto Rico, including a recent increase in service between San Juan and Fort Lauderdale (FLL). JetBlue now operates six daily flights during peak periods on this popular route to meet growing demand for travel between South Florida and Puerto Rico.
Since launching service to San Juan in 2002, JetBlue has been connected to Puerto Rico’s cultural, economic, and community landscape. The airline’s low fares and great customer service have made it the preferred carrier on the island. With nearly 800 crewmembers living and working across the island, a growing pilot and in-flight crew base, a robust maintenance operation, and longstanding collaborations with local organizations, JetBlue’s presence extends far beyond air travel.
Furthermore, JetBlue and the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC) have renewed their longstanding partnership through a new Cooperative Marketing Agreement aimed at strengthening air access and increasing demand for travel to Puerto Rico. The agreement, backed by PRTC marketing funds, will support promotional efforts for JetBlue’s expanding service across the island, including routes connecting San Juan, Ponce and Aguadilla with major East Coast and Florida cities. The joint campaign will leverage targeted digital media, email marketing, and destination branding integrations to drive demand and enhance competitiveness in key markets. This renewed commitment reflects both parties’ shared goal of boosting tourism growth while ensuring long-term route sustainability.
