Swan Hellenic Unveils New “Photojournalism at Sea” Program

Swan Hellenic and Travel Photo Tour announced the first edition of “Photojournalism at Sea,” an immersive creative program set to take place aboard the boutique expedition ship SH Vega. The experience will unfold during a 10-day voyage from Valparaíso, Chile, to Callao, Peru, departing March 30, 2026.

Designed for travelers seeking deeper meaning in their journeys, “Photojournalism at Sea” is expected to transform expedition guests into visual storytellers. Under the guidance of internationally recognized Travel Photo Tour photographers, participants will learn how to capture powerful narratives through photography while exploring the rich cultural and natural heritage of the Pacific coastline.

This exceptional itinerary blends Chile’s colorful port city of Valparaíso with Peru’s dramatic coastal deserts, ancient archaeological sites, and vibrant contemporary culture—offering an inspiring canvas for creative discovery.

Throughout the voyage, guests will take part in:

  • Lectures and thematic photography workshops

  • On-shore field assignments at key ports across Chile and Peru

  • Storytelling labs and personalized image-review sessions

  • A final curated portfolio project, helping each participant develop a cohesive visual narrative

To commemorate the experience, each guest will receive a professionally designed hardcover coffee-table book featuring a selection of participants’ best images, alongside portraits, bios, and expedition highlights—a refined keepsake celebrating their evolution as visual storytellers.

To introduce the program, Travel Photo Tour’s lead photographer and filmaker Chris Crass reflected on the deeper meaning of the initiative: “You know what separates a tourist from a traveler? A traveler seeks to understand. And you know what separates a traveler from a storyteller? A storyteller seeks to share that understanding in a way that inspires others. That’s what this program is all about.”

Travel Photo Tour is a global creative platform offering immersive photography programs, workshops, and expeditions.
