A concourse at Dubai International Airport (DXB) has sustained minor damage after an incident that was quickly contained, Dubai Airports confirmed Saturday via the Dubai Media Office. All flight operations across the UAE were suspended following Iranian missile and drone strikes targeting the Gulf region.
Dubai Airports said emergency response teams were immediately deployed and are managing the situation in coordination with relevant authorities. Four staff members sustained injuries and received prompt medical attention. The airport noted that due to contingency plans already in place, most terminals had been previously cleared of passengers before the incident occurred. Social media posts showed passengers moving through damaged, smoke-filled parts of the airport.
All flight operations at DXB and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) remain suspended until further notice following a temporary partial closure of UAE airspace. Similar advisories were issued by Sharjah Airport and Abu Dhabi Airports, where services at Zayed International Airport (AUH) are also facing cancellations, delays, and diversions. Emirates and numerous other international carriers have halted or rerouted services across the region.
Dubai Airports urged passengers not to travel to either Dubai airport and to contact their airlines directly for further information.
Travelers currently in the UAE should shelter in place and monitor official channels, while those with upcoming bookings to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Sharjah should be advised of likely significant disruption. Agents should document all client communications and begin reviewing applicable force majeure and travel insurance provisions.
Dubai Airports said it will provide further updates as they become available and stressed that passenger safety remains its top priority.
Travel Agent Central will continue to monitor this developing situation.
