A $35,000 Rolex. A fully assembled robot. A suitcase packed with rat poison. Those are among the items Unclaimed Baggage, a retailer of lost airline luggage, says it pulled from orphaned bags over the past year.
The Scottsboro, Alabama-based company released its third annual “Found Report” Wednesday, cataloguing the strangest and most valuable discoveries from its 2025 haul. Other standouts include a $10,800 Chanel handbag, a $12,500 Balenciaga leather jacket, a pair of $43,000 diamond earrings, a matching set of Samurai swords, fake human bones, a beekeeping suit, diamond-studded gold grills and the Miss North Dakota USA 2025 state costume.
The report also flags broader travel trends embedded in the finds — viral fashion items like the Trader Joe’s tote bag showed up in quantity, as did large amounts of gold jewelry.
Unclaimed Baggage’s business model runs on the small fraction of checked bags that airlines never successfully reunite with their owners. After a 90-day search, passengers are compensated and the bags are shipped to the company’s 50,000-square-foot store, where contents are sold, donated or recycled. In 2025, roughly 27 million passengers flew daily worldwide.
“Each year I am amazed at the treasures discovered in luggage and what it reveals about our society,” said Bryan Owens, the company’s owner.
To coincide with the report’s release, Unclaimed Baggage is running a public pop-up in New York City from March 6–8 at 2 Rivington Street. A nationwide “treasure hunt” promotion launches alongside it, running through June 13 — shoppers receive collectible cards with each purchase, and the first to complete a set of 10 wins an all-expenses-paid trip to Scottsboro and a $1,000 gift card. The company is also holding its first Unclaimed Auction on June 13, where bidders can go after report highlights, other finds and sealed mystery suitcases from real lost luggage loads.
