MSC Cruises is officially one month away from its Alaska debut, with MSC Poesia departing dry dock this weekend and beginning its Atlantic crossing to Seattle. The summer 2026 season marks the cruise line’s inaugural Alaska operations, expanding its North American footprint and introducing advisors to a refreshed ship ready to capture the competitive Alaska market.
MSC Poesia arrives in Miami on April 22 before departing on a special Panama Canal sailing to Seattle on April 23 — a positioning voyage advisors can pitch as a unique experience for clients. The ship docks in Seattle on May 11, launching its first seven-night Alaska sailing.
The timing is significant: Alaska remains one of the highest-revenue cruise segments, and advisors now have a new product to differentiate their offerings in a crowded category. For clients seeking European elegance paired with accessibility to Alaska’s flagship ports, MSC’s entry offers a fresh option.
What’s New Aboard
The ship’s recent enhancements give advisors concrete selling points. MSC Poesia now features MSC Yacht Club, the brand’s exclusive “ship-within-a-ship” premium tier, alongside new specialty dining venues including Butcher’s Cut (American-style steakhouse) and Kaito Sushi Bar. The wellness amenities have been reimagined, with a redesigned MSC Aurea Spa featuring cold-weather treatments and a refreshed thermal area, plus an enhanced MSC Gym powered by Technogym with new equipment and dedicated studio spaces.

The Itinerary
From May through September 2026, seven-night Alaska sailings depart Seattle and call at Ketchikan (the gateway to Alaska’s Inside Passage, offering Alaska Native heritage and access to Misty Fjords), Icy Strait Point (known for wildlife viewing—whales, bears and coastal scenery), and Juneau (Alaska’s capital, accessible only by air or sea, with glacier views and cultural attractions). Sailings also include Victoria, British Columbia, and scenic cruising through Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier, featuring towering fjords and close-up glacier views.
MSC Cruises also offers a special Panama Canal positioning cruise on April 23, giving advisors an exclusive pre-season voyage to position clients and experience the ship firsthand before the Alaska season begins in earnest.
