Holland America Line’s Zuiderdam Debuts Fresh Look and Features

Holland America Line’s Zuiderdam is back in service with a fresh look and new features following a two-week dry dock in the Bahamas. Guests embarked the Vista-class ship in Miami on Dec. 6, 2025, for a 17-day “Eastern & Southern Caribbean” cruise, showcasing upgrades like a redesigned Crow’s Nest, added ocean view staterooms and updates throughout public areas and staterooms, such as refreshed carpeting and finishes.

A Refreshed Crow’s Nest

As part of the ship’s enhancements, the Crow’s Nest now features a newly added bandstand stage designed for intimate performances and events. The space also received upgraded lighting and audio systems to host small-scale live music, lectures, narration and speaking engagements, creating a versatile venue for guests to enjoy enriching experiences in a relaxed setting with panoramic scenic views.

Expanded Accommodations

One of the most significant updates during Zuiderdam’s dry dock was the addition of 11 ocean view staterooms on decks one and seven, increasing guest capacity. The refresh also included new carpeting in all verandah staterooms on decks five through 10, as well as in Neptune, Signature and Pinnacle suites. Verandah staterooms on Deck 8 received full bathroom updates, including new vanities, mirrors, bathtubs, floors and walls. About 300 other staterooms across the ship were also fitted with new bathroom flooring and updated wallpaper.

Revitalized Dining Venues and Public Spaces

Guests aboard Zuiderdam will also notice refreshed public spaces throughout the ship. New carpeting was added in the Dining Room, Lido Market, Canaletto, guest corridors, stairwells, elevator lobbies and the Greenhouse Spa & Salon. The Atrium received new carpeting and a fresh coat of paint, while Canaletto and Lido Market feature updated upholstery on dining chairs and banquettes.

The Photo Gallery now features a redesigned sales counter and retail area where guests can browse and purchase photographs taken on board as cruise keepsakes. In addition, new furniture for the outdoor deck and hydro pool area will enhance spaces where guests can sit back and relax while they sail around the world.
