MSC Cruises has confirmed that MSC Euribia has successfully and safely transited the Strait of Hormuz after departing Dubai, putting the ship back on track for its Northern Europe season sooner than the line initially expected.
Passenger and commercial shipping operations in the Middle East screeched to a standstill earlier this year amid fallout from the conflict with Iran rippling throughout the region. According to a weekend update from the cruise line, the vessel’s passage was completed in close coordination with relevant authorities and the ship is currently en route to Northern Europe.
Because the repositioning has occurred faster than anticipated, MSC Cruises is officially reinstating previously canceled mid-May voyages. The cruise departing on May 16 from Kiel, Germany, and the May 17 departure from Copenhagen, Denmark, will now operate exactly as originally scheduled. Additionally, MSC confirmed that all subsequent MSC Euribia sailings will proceed as planned.
For travel advisors with clients impacted by the earlier cancellations, MSC Cruises noted that guests will have the option to transfer their bookings back to these reinstated sailings if they choose. The cruise line announced it will begin contacting affected guests directly with further details this week.
