Exciting things are brewing for IHG Hotels & Resorts, which just announced Intercontinental Manchester – Deansgate will become the InterContinental brand’s fifth property in the UK and Ireland. Set to undergo a full rebrand while remaining open to guests, the 264-room hotel, which is owned by Blue Manchester Hotel Limited, will unveil its new look by 2027, the company announced in a release.
Part of the famous 47-style Beetham Tower, the 22-floor InterContinental has a prime location in central Manchester. Surrounded by dining, shopping, and nightlife venues, it’s also close to several spots known for business travel, including the city’s main conference center and Spinningfields. Featuring 264 guestrooms, each boasting views of the Manchester skyline, the property has 18 meeting rooms for private events and social gatherings. On the ground floor, you’ll find a bar and restaurant, while an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, and fitness center cater to your wellness needs.
“The signing of InterContinental Manchester – Deansgate marks a significant milestone in our UK&I development strategy as we bring the world’s first and most iconic luxury hotel brand to an important city in the UK,” Willemijn Geels, IHG’s vice president of development for Europe, said in a statement. “The landmark signing further strengthens IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio in the UK and perfectly complements our Kimpton Clocktower property — reinforcing our position as the leading luxury hospitality player in Manchester.”
The new hotel cements IHG’s position as the largest global hotel company in the UK and Ireland, where it currently has 363 open properties and 33 more in development. The hotel is part of the expansion of IHG’s luxury and lifestyle portfolio, adding to its existing 27 open hotels, the release stated.
