Tamarind, Barbados, an Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort, has reopened on the island’s Platinum West Coast following an extensive redesign — and with it, the Barbados Collection has wrapped a two-year, multi-million-dollar renovation of all seven of its resorts on the island.
Long a favorite among families, Tamarind now offers 111 refreshed guestrooms and suites with interiors inspired by the island’s sea and landscape, along with enhanced public spaces and new culinary venues. Dining options span breakfast at Sugar Cane Restaurant, artisanal coffee at Harvest & Hive, local and international dishes at 246 Bar & Restaurant, and casual seaside fare at Sugar Shack. The resort will also be home to Caribbean Restaurant, billed as the island’s first air-conditioned restaurant dedicated to authentic Barbadian cuisine. For younger guests, the new CAMP Club — an indoor-outdoor space created in partnership with CAMP and Marriott Bonvoy — offers hands-on activities inspired by Barbados, from local arts and crafts to music and storytelling.
“The reopening of Tamarind is an incredibly meaningful moment for Marriott International, our team, and for the future of hospitality in Barbados,” said Gastón Gonzalez, regional vice president, Marriott International, Caribbean & Mexico. “Over the past several years, we have undertaken an ambitious vision to completely reimagine our portfolio across the island.”
The reopening completes a portfolio evolution that has converted Waves Resort & Spa, Treasure Beach, The House, and now Tamarind into Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resorts; introduced Crystal Cove and Turtle Beach as Tribute Portfolio All-Inclusive Resorts; and brought back Colony Club as Barbados’ first property under The Luxury Collection. Tamarind also anchors the collection’s “Lifestyle Stretch” of West Coast experiences alongside The House and Treasure Beach, enhanced by the debut of the Sandtrap Beach Club. Guests can dine across participating sister properties through the collection’s Dine Around Program, and — with two indoor event spaces and outdoor venues for up to 400 — the resort is positioned for destination weddings and group business as well.
